We awoke after a surprisingly good nights sleep. Camels were outside our tent making a racket. Up, bathroom and breakfast before heading off in the jeeps for a safari through the desert. During the 4 hour trip we probably stopped 5 times to see nookish little canyons, plush with life, TE Lawrence's various hangouts, interesting rock formations and engravings and sand dunes that the kids snow boarded down. All dusty and hot but still quite comfortable and enjoyable. Finally on to the bus for the trip home via Aqaba and Lot's wife (a rock formation over looking the Dead Sea.
We arrived home at the moment of an immense sand storm. This was quite horrific as the sand whips your body and gets in your eyes, everywhere. THe wind is so strong, and everything is really dark and there is a fierce rumbling and shaking of everything about you. Soon after - within minutes - a massive rain storm cleaned everything up. All the while, the temperature remained 38 degrees.
A welcome shower, some dinner, some clothes washing in the bath and off to bed.
We had a fantastic time and it was lovely to see the Prof and spend this informal time with her.
