Firstly, we are hearing and watching on CNN & BBC (only english news stations) that Israel has bombed Syria, but I can assure you that I feel safe here. We are not in any towns (apparently a bit of action in Amman) but we are safe.
Now, a very interesting talk this evening by the Prof as well as some breaking news with Vitiligo and gray hair. The Professor has published some research regarding the use of her PC KUS cream and gray hair. This is fantastic news as people everywhere want to get rid of gray hair... pharmaceutical companies will jump on this. Where there is money to be made by pharmaceutical companies, there is research dollars.
What this means? The Prof's magic potion - Pseudo catalase (the ingredient activated by the narrow band UVB light) will hopefully be manufactured by pharmaceutical companies. Its applications could therefore be extended to vitiligo sufferers. You can read more at www.fasebj.org The report is titled "Gray hair and vitiligo reversed at the root". Fingers crossed on this front.
The Prof tonight also went over the correct use of the light machines and creams. I will save that for another post, but safe to say, some tips emerged.
Also there is a newly developed hand held light machine - about the same size as a pair of hair straighteners (blokes read : like a small hair dryer's size). It is good for armpits as it is difficult to get the armpit-pit in the correct position in front of the machine. As a result, many peoples armpits do not re pigment.
This new hand held jobbie also has a comb like attachment that allows you to comb through the hair to get the UVB light onto the scalp. Note: Darcy has lots of gray hairs interspersed on her head. The trouble is getting the psuedo catalase cream to her scalp but maybe with the afore-mentioned findings, a shampoo, or spray might soon be on the market.
Heaps more info to get out there but now getting late.. need to get ready for bed. Watch this space.
ps., Matthew, I think I have found a person to service Cosmedico Light Machines in Australia. Apparently you have to have the machine fully serviced every 4 years. Night night!
